Hereditary
My grandmother never made tea in a tea pot. She had tea pots, two, I think, she just never used them.
She used a small sauce pan instead.
I thought it was weird.
Last October, my cousin made me tea.
In a saucepan.
Like our grandmother.
I called her out on it.
She shrugged.
A few weeks ago I made tea.
My kettle was dirty.
I used a saucepan.
“Oh,” I thought, “this is so much easier.”
I still have a kettle on my stove.
But now it’s mostly an artistic piece.
